CONWAY, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina University's women's tennis program has signed Alex Derungs (Bruettisellen, Switzerland/Raemibuel) to a National Letter-of-Intent, Head Coach Jody Davis announced today. Derungs will join the program during the 2009-10 academic year and joins Mary Hill (Munster, Ind./Munster) as part of the 2009 signing class.

      "We believe Alex is going to be a great addition to our team," Davis commented. "She was referred to us by a former Lady Chanticleer and we look forward to working with her in developing her game."

      Derungs has extensive international competition experience, having played in Switzerland for Club Belvoir Zurich, ranked No. 2 among all clubs in the country. She currently is ranked No. 65 in the nation.

      The Chanticleers concluded the 2009 season with a 15-6 mark, which included a 13-match winning streak and Davis' 200th career victory.
