Coastal Carolina Baseball Summer League Update

Several members of the Coastal Carolina University baseball team are currently playing in various collegiate summer leagues around the country. Here is an update through July 27.
CAL RIPKEN, SR. LEAGUE
Jackson Geary (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) is 5-1 with a 4.34 ERA for Maryland. Geary has struck out 16 batters in 18.2 innings for the Redbirds.
CAPE COD
Rico Noel (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) has 20 stolen bases, 18 runs scored and two home runs for Cotuit. Noel has played both at second base and in the outfield in the 34 games with the Kettleers... Scott Woodward (Markle, Ind./Norwell) is hitting .230 with 25 stolen bases, 24 walks and a .412 on-base percentage for Bourne. Woodward had the game-winning hit in Bourne's 5-4 win over Falmouth July 20.... Adam Rice (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Elgin C.C.) also is playing for Bourne. Rice has eight hits in 15 games played with five RBI and three walks for the Braves.
COASTAL PLAIN
Jim Birmingham (Pine Hill, N.J./Penn) has a 1-2 record with a 4.31 earned-run average in seven appearances for Outer Banks. The opponents are hitting just .216 off of Birmingham... Keith Hessler (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) is 2-1 with a 4.03 ERA for Outer Banks. He combined on a shutout in a 14-0 win over Petersburg June 29... Tucker Frawley (Lexington, S.C./Lexington) has 15 hits, six RBI and a .308 on-base percentage for the Daredevils.
GREAT LAKES
Steve Davis (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) is hitting .237 with three doubles and seven RBI for Licking County. Davis is a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases for the Settlers.
NEW ENGLAND COLLEGIATE
Anthony Meo (Cranston, R.I./Cranston West) has a 0.87 ERA in four appearances for New Bedford. Meo has allowed just two earned runs in 20.2 innings of work. He has struck out 20 for the Bay Sox.
PROSPECT
Brad Goldberg (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) is 1-1 with four saves and a 1.44 ERA for North Coast. Goldberg has struck out 32 batters in 25 innings pitched for the Knights. Goldberg also was named to the Prospect League All-Star Team... Goldberg was joined on the All-Star Team by Luke Schlechte (Imperial, Mo./Jefferson College), who is hitting .261 with 11 doubles, a triple and three home runs for Quincy. Schlechte also has 28 RBI for the Gems... TJ Swank (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) has18 strikeouts and a save for Springfield. He has a 3.92 ERA for the Sliders.
TEAM USA
Cody Wheeler (Spotsylvania, Va./Spotsylvania) finished his Team USA run with a 3-0 record and 31 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched. Wheeler earned the win for the Red, White and Blue in a 12-2 win over Team British Columbia in the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline World Baseball Challenge.
VALLEY
Daniel Bowman (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) won the Home Run Derby at the Valley League All-Star Game. Bowman hit 18 home runs in the two rounds. He is hitting .292 with six doubles, eight home runs and 26 RBI for the Luray Wranglers ... Tommy La Stella (Closter, N.J./St. John's) is hitting .289 with five doubles, three home runs and 22 RBI for Haymarket.
