Coastal Carolina University senior men's basketball player Mario Edwards has been selected as the Athletic Department's Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 18.

Edwards avearged 22 points in two Big South games this past week. The senior scored a team-high 16 points in the Radford game Jan. 14. He also pulled down seven rebounds and had three assists vs. the Highlanders. Edwards then tied a career high with 28 points on 9-of-12 shooting in the win over High Point Jan. 16. He was a perfect 2-of-2 from three-point range and went 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Edwards and the rest of the Chants head to North Charleston, S.C., to face Charleston Southern Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
