The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges Scoring/Results
The Coastal Carolina men's golf team will wrap-up its fall portion of the schedule this weekend (Oct. 15-17), traveling to Johnson City, Tenn., for East Tennessee State's 13th annual The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges.
This will mark the fourth trip for the Chanticleers to The Ridges, winning in 2008, tying for fifth in 2007 and placing 14th in 2009. Coastal's win in 2008 was by one stroke, 869 to 870, over host ETSU.
This year's field includes five of the top-55 teams in the country. The group features No. 24 Wake Forest, No. 25 Virginia, No. 29 Michigan, No. 35 Kent State and No. 54 Coastal Carolina, along with Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Chattanooga, Missouri, UNC Wilmington, Louisville, Denver and host ETSU.
Tennessee returns to the event as the defending champions as they edged Oregon State last year in a scorecard playoff. The two teams finished the event at 3-under par 861.
Individually, this year's field features five players ranked in the top-50 nationally. Headlining the group is No. 7 Ben Kohles of Virginia, No. 15 Lee Bedford of Wake Forest, No. 16 John Hahn of Kent State, No. 18 Evan Beck of Wake Forest, and Lion Kim (No. 40) of Michigan. Kim is the reigning U.S. Amateur Public Links champion and will participate in The Masters next year.
Making the trip for Coastal Carolina will be Tripp McAllister, Sebastian Soderberg, Steve Delmar, Roberto Ballesteros and Drew Ernst.
McAllister is a two-year veteran of this event, while Ernst and Soderberg are making his second trip. In 2008, McAllister fired a four-over, 220 to tied for 18th, while he shot five-over, 221 in 2007 - his first collegiate event - to tie for 51st. Last season, Ernst carded a one-over 217 to finish 19th. Also last season, Soderberg, making his collegiate debut, had rounds of 77-72-77 to finish 10-over and in 53rd place.
The tournament will begin on Friday with each player starting on hole number one. Play will begin at 8:30 am.
