Three Chants Advance At ITA Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three members of the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team advanced on the first day of the ITA Regionals Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Freshman Mikaela Kristofersson reached the quarterfinals of the qualifying singles bracket with a pair of wins on the opening day of the event. Kristofersson defeated Bryn Khoury of Elon 6-3, 6-2 in her first match before downing Steph MacFarlane 6-3, 6-1 in the following match. She will face Anna Mydlowska of Wake Forest in the quarterfinals.
Junior Diana Mortlock also advanced to the quarterfinals in the bracket with two victories. Mortlock began her day with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Paige Oelke of Presbyterian and finished with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Mikayla Rogers of UNC Greensboro. Mortlock will next battle Jessica Cook of East Carolina.
Mortlock also enjoyed success in doubles and reached the round of 32 playing alongside junior Miki Bunea. The Chanticleer duo knocked off Patricia Alves and Cara Caruso of Presbyterian 8-1. Mortlock and Bunea will face Hanna Mar and Reka Zsilinszka of Duke Friday at 9 a.m.
