Women's Basketball Preseason Report: Day 23

CONWAY- Through 20 preseason practices the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team has grown by leaps and bounds as head coach Alan LeForce prepares for his 14th season at the helm of the Chanticleers.
Continuing to show why she was named to the preseason All-Big South team, senior Sydnei Moss has been the constant standout throughout practice. Moss, who has been know for her shooting prowess for the past three seasons, has been working hard on distributing the ball and creating opportunities for her teammates. Although she has been working on distribution, Moss has continued to shoot the ball well and will start the season a mere three points shy of becoming the eleventh member of the 1,000 point club in Coastal Carolina history.
Senior Katie White has also shinned during practice on the defensive end of the court. The 6-foot-3 center has made an impression on Coastal basketball throughout her career as one of the most prolific shot blockers to ever put on a Chanticleer uniform. White enters the season coming off 54 block season and her 142 career block currently ranks ninth all-time in the Big South Conference.
Also making an impact through preseason practice is Olivia Irick. The junior guard has shown great improvement and is in position to earn a position in the starting lineup on opening day.
Making an impact in their first 20 days of practice are freshmen Kayla Cook, Alexx Puckett, Angelica Henry, Shanika Maddox, and Katelyn Connor. All five have been impressed with their athleticism and ability to grasp the new playbook.
"All of our freshmen are coming along," LeForce said. "I'm not going to be alarmed to stick one of them in the game, I'll tell you that. And some of them may end up starting. I'm talking about more than one, so it's going to be interesting to see how they continue to grow and adapt to the college game."
The Chanticleers will make their public debut on Nov. 4 as the team participates in Hoopla. Hoopla will be open to the first 1,000 fans to enter Kimbel Arena. The night's festivities will include a mascot basketball game presented by Beef O' Brady's, a skills competition, dunk contest, and the introduction of the 2010-11 Coastal Carolina Chanticleer basketball teams.
