Coastal Carolina Names Lauren Ashman Assistant AD/Compliance

Nov. 18, 2010

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek announced today the hiring of Lauren Ashman as the department's Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. Ashman replaces Jim Curry, who accepted a similar position at the University of Maryland.

Ashman is no stranger to Coastal Carolina University, serving as an assistant compliance director here from 2004-06.

"We are thrilled to have Lauren re-join our athletics family at Coastal Carolina," Yurachek said. "Lauren separated herself from the other very qualified people during the interview process and I received nothing but positive statements about Lauren from people she has worked with throughout the years. It is also great to have someone of her experience and talent come into a place where she is familiar with the people at the University and already has a positive working experience with many of our coaches and staff members. I would be remiss if I did not thank Jim Curry for his hard work and dedication while here, but know Lauren will not allow us to miss a beat."

Ashman spent nearly five years at Hofstra University, serving as Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance since January 2008. Ashman started at Hofstra in August 2006 as assistant director of compliance.

"I would like to thank Hunter Yurachek and the Department of Athletics for providing me with the opportunity to return to Coastal Carolina University," Ashman said. "I was able to spend two years here as I began my career in college athletics and am excited to return to the Coastal family. The evident growth and success within the department is a testament to Hunter's vision and leadership. I am fortunate to be a part of such progress. This is a great time to be a Chanticleer."

As the Chanticleers' top compliance officer, Ashman serves as the primary point of reference for all matters related to NCAA rules compliance, monitors all institutional aid awarded to student-athletes, coordinates a comprehensive rules education program and supervises the positions of assistant director of compliance and director of student-athlete services. She is a graduate of the 2010 NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement/West and a member of the NCAA Peer-Review Team Pool for the Third Cycle of NCAA Certification.

In addition to her role in compliance at Hofstra, Ashman also serves as the sport administrator for softball, baseball, men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis.

A native of Latrobe, Pa., Ashman is a 2004 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in sport management.
