CHARLESTON, S.C. - (AP) Jason Clark hit five 3-pointers and scored 22 points as No. 20 Georgetown defeated Coastal Carolina 80-61 to open the Charleston Classic on Thursday.

Georgetown improved to 3-0 for the fourth straight season and used 14-for-30 shooting from beyond the arc to keep the Chanticleers from sustaining any type of run.

Austin Freeman added 20 points, 14 in the second half, while Chris Wright had 12 points and a career-high 11 assists for the Hoyas.

Kierre Greenwood had 16 points to lead Coastal Carolina, while Desmond Holloway added 13 points and has scored in double figures in all four games for Coastal.

Sam McLaurin finished with two blocked shots and upped his career total to 64 to move into sole possession of eighth place on Coastal's all-time list. The Havana, Fla., native is just three rejections shy of passing William Calvin for seventh place.

Freeman and Wright had four 3-pointers apiece for Georgetown, which pushed a 32-26 halftime lead to 51-33 after consecutive 3s from Clark. Coastal went on an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to tighten things up one final time, but the Hoyas responded again with Freeman and Clark hitting 3s and Clark making a wide-open 12-footer to go ahead 59-46 with 9:15 left.

Coastal Carolina didn't get any closer the rest of the way.

Georgetown, the only ranked team among the eight tournament participants, had its outside touch going from the start, making 8 of 12 from beyond the arc and opening a 30-18 lead with six minutes left in the first half.

But the Hoyas, with Freeman watching from the bench with two fouls, got ragged the rest of the way and let the Chanticleers back in it. Georgetown had only one basket and committed half of its 10 first-half turnovers during that stretch.

Greenwood's steal and breakaway basket got Coastal Carolina within 32-26 at the break.

Coastal Carolina returns to action Friday at noon when the Chanticleers face the winner of the USC Upstate-Wofford game from Carolina First Arena.
