CONWAY- The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will host the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. The game is the second in a two game home stand for the Chants after defeating Converse 86-33 on Sunday, Dec. 12.

UNC Wilmington Seahawks
The Seahawks bring an impressive 5-2 record into Kimbel Arena. UNCW won its first four games before losing at No. 7 Ohio State and at home to Charlotte. Most recently, UNC Wilmington escaped Buies Creek, N.C. with a narrow 83-80 over Campbell; a team the Chanticleers defeated by a 58-52 final.
UNC Wilmington has four players averaging double figures in points. Leading the way is Kristen Hanzer with 13.4 per contest followed closely by Brittany Blackwell's 13.1 per game. Martha White (11.3) and Alisha Andrews (10.4) round out the Seahawk scoring leaders.
UNCW averages 71.6 points per game while giving up 68.9. The Seahawks have only recorded 24 rejections this season, a number Coastal's Katie White matches alone.

Shooting Lights Out
Coastal got on the scoreboard early and often against Converse as the Chants finished 33-of-64 from the field for a season-high 51.6 percent including 57.1 percent in the first half. The percentage is the highest from the field for the Chants since connecting on 51.9 percent from the floor at Charleston Southern on Feb. 13, 2010. The Chanticleers were also dead on from the free-throw line as the team combined to knock down 15-of-17 attempts for as season-high 88.2 percent. It was the first time Coastal had shot over 80 percent from the charity stripe since March 5, 2010 vs. Gardner-Webb.
Triplets in Double-Figures
For the second time in as many games, the Chanticleers finished with three scores in double-figures against Converse. Olivia Irick and Lauren Grochowski led the way with 12 points each and Kira Carter added 11 points. Grochowski's points set a new season-high mark and was one point off her career-high of 13 set against Presbyterian on Feb. 1 of last season. Irick and Carter also tied their season-high points production.
Using the Bench
After an early 33-4 run against Converse through the first 10 minutes of the first half to put the game out of reach, coach Alan LeForce looked to his bench to close out the contest. All eight available reserves saw at least 12 minutes of playing time as they combined for a season-high 54 points. Senior Taylor Epley's nine points off the bench set a new career-high eclipsing her previous best of 6 which she total three times throughout her career.
LeForce Stays Perfect
With his most previous win over Converse, head coach Alan LeForce improves his career record at Coastal Carolina to a perfect 19-0 against Conference Carolinas member institutions.
Around the Country
Coastal Carolina ranks 20th of 333 Division I programs in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to hit 33.6 percent of their shots taken. The Chanticleers sit 23rd in the country averaging 5.3 blocked shots per game up from its 32nd ranking last week. Additionally, Coastal is 53rd in total defense allowing only 55.7 points per game which is just 11.4 more than national leader UConn.
Individually, Katie White is 16th in the NCAA as she averages 2.7 blocks per game and Sydnei Moss is 83rd with 8.9 rebound per game. White finished last season ranked 22nd with an average of 2.3 rejections per contest.
In the Big South
As a team, Coastal Carolina ranks tops in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to only shoot 33.6 percent from the floor. Due in large part to Katie White's 24 rejections on the season, Coastal is second in the Big South in blocked shots with 48 on the season. Also on the defensive end, the Chants hold the Conference's top spot averaging 30.8 defensive rebounds per game.
Individually, White is second in the Big South with 24 blocked shots this season while Sydnei Moss ranks 18th averaging 9.8 points per game. Moss is also second in the League with 80 rebounds for a 8.9 per game average.
