CONWAY - Coastal Carolina junior pitcher Anthony Meo was named second team preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Meo was a Golden Spikes finalist and Dick Howser Award semifinalist last season, posting a 13-2 record and helping Coastal Carolina to a school and Big South-record 55 wins. Meo was the 2010 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) District IV Player of the Year as well as the unanimous Big South Pitcher of the Year. He was tabbed All-American by three entities in 2010, including first team honors by NCBWA, second team honors by Collegiate Baseball and third team honors by American Baseball Coaches Association.
Also in 2010, Meo's 13 wins ranked second in the NCAA, while ranking 22nd in strikeouts (94) and 29th in ERA (2.61).
In two years, Meo has compiled a 21-4 record on the mound with just 53 earned runs in 173.1 inning (2.74 career ERA) with 162 strikeouts against just 66 walks. Meo was additionally a consensus Freshman All-American in 2009 and is a two-time, first team All-Big South pick.
