Chants Topple Thomas More For Eighth Straight Win

CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina set a school record for the most points scored in a game and won its eighth straight game in the process following a 125-70 win over Thomas More Monday evening from Kimbel Arena.
The Chants broke the previous school record of 122 points set in a victory over Friendship during the 1979-80 season.
Coastal Carolina (10-2) featured seven players in double figures and saw all of its 11 players score at least three points.
Anthony Raffa scored a season-high 21 points and went 3-for-3 from the three-point line as Coastal finished the game 13-for-23 from beyond the arc.
Desmond Holloway added 21 points of his own to register his fifth game of the season with at least 20 points. The Indianapolis, Ind., native also recorded five rebounds and career-high six assists.
Chad Gray poured in 14 points that included four thunderous dunks, while Danny Nieman also tallied 14 points to go along with seven assists and a career-high eight rebounds.
Sam McLaurin finished with 12 points and seven rebounds and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. Dexter Moore collected 11 points and hit three 3-points and now leads the team with a .438 shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
Mike Holmes posted his second double-double of the season after finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. The Bishopville, S.C., native helped Coastal hold a 56-24 edge in rebounding and a 62-22 advantage in points in the paint. In his three games thus far this season, Holmes is averaging 13.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
Jordan Griffin, who transferred to Coastal following one season at Thomas More, scored six points and hit a career-high two 3-pointers against his former team.
Todd Kroham led Thomas More with 17 points and was 5-for-10 from three-point range.
The Chants shot a season-best 64.4 percent from the field and used its up-tempo offense to create several easy baskets in transition. In fact, Coastal dished out a season-high 30 assists on its 47 made field goals and had five players finish with at least three helpers.
Coastal built a 10-point lead in the first five minutes of the game and went on to lead by as many as 27 points before halftime. The Chants shot 68.4 percent in the second half and built their lead to as much a 56 points on two different occasions.
Coastal returns to action Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. when the Chants resume conference play by hosting Radford from Kimbel Arena.
