CONWAY- The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will take on the USC Upstate Spartans on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. from Upstate's G.B. Hodge Center. The game will be the final non-conference contest for Coastal this season as the Chants open Big South play on Jan. 3 at Presbyterian.

USC Upstate Spartans
USC Upstate are 5-4 on the season including 2-0 in the Atlantic Sun. The Spartans are yet to be defeated at home as they sit 3-0 through this point in the season. Upstate is 2-1 this season against the Big South Conference having defeated Radford (87-81) and Presbyterian College (78-73-OT) while falling to UNC Asheville (95-76).
The Spartans are led on the offensive end by Tee'Ara Copney's 14.8 points per game. Copney has scored in double-figures in seven games this season with her most recent being a 22 point performance against Radford. Chelsea McMillan also plays a key roll for Upstate as she averages a double-double with 14.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. McMillan is a perfect 4-of-4 from three this season.
Upstate averages an impressive 72.8 points per game, but are lacking on the defensive end as opponents have averaged scoring 81.0 points per game. The Spartans are shooting 38.6 from the field and 30.5 percent from beyond the arc on the season.

Moss Raises the Bar
Sydnei Moss raised the Chants season standards against Butler as she scored a season-high 20 points in the game and came away with six of Coastal's 13 steals. Moss' points output and steals mark the Chanticleer season standard through this point in the year.
Triplets in Double-Figures
For the third time in as many games, the Chanticleers finished with three scores in double-figures against Butler. Sydnei Moss led the way with 20 points as Olivia Irick scored 12 and Kayla Cook scored 10. The game marked the sixth time this season that Moss and Irick reach double-figures and the fourth time Cook accomplished the feat. In all, the trio have accounted for 284 of Coastal's point on the season.
The Only Ones
Coastal Carolina's Sydnei Moss and High Point's Mackenzie Maier are the only active players in the Big South with more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. The milestone marks the first time since the 2008-09 season the Big South has had two active players with 1,000-plus career points and 500-plus career boards.
Coastal and the A-Sun
Coastal Carolina is 1-0 on the season against the Atlantic Sun Conference. The victory came over Campbell by a final of 58-52 on Nov. 23, 2010. The Chants, however, have not fared well historically against the A-Sun holding an all-time record of 19-34 against member institutions.
Take The Ball And Run
The Chanticleers scored a season-high 34 points off of 25 Butler turnovers in the team's last game. The Chants collected 13 steals in the game compared to only six by the Bulldogs.

The Chanticleers will return to the hardwood in the New Year on Jan. 3 to take on Presbyterian College in the team's Big South Conference opener. Tip-off from Presbyterian's Templeton Center Gym is set for 7 p.m.
