Final Stats

CONWAY, S.C. - Chad Gray's dunk with one second left on the clock lifted Coastal Carolina to a thrilling 73-71 win over Charleston Southern Saturday afternoon from Kimbel Arena.

Charleston Southern (4-5, 0-1 BSC) tied the game at 71-71 on a layup in the lane by Jamarco Warren with just over seven seconds left on the clock.

Kierre Greenwood took the ensuing inbounds pass and drove to the three point line on the left wing of the floor before making his move to the basket. Greenwood looked as if he was about to attempt a shot, but he quickly recognized an open Gray and fed him for the game-winning dunk.

Gray finished with 18 points and three rebounds and is averaging 22.5 points per game over his last two games.

Desmond Holloway tallied his second straight double-double after finishing with a game-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Danny Nieman added 13 points and was 7-for-8 from the free throw line.

Kelvin Martin led the Buccaneers with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Jeremy Sexton added 14 points and three steals, while Warren chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Coastal Carolina (7-2, 1-0 BSC) led 71-65 with 1:50 left in the second half before Charleston Southern used a 6-0 run over the next 1:44 to tie the score at 71-71.

Warren pulled Charleston Southern to within four points at 71-67 with a jumper in the paint before a pair of free throws from Martin with just under a minute remaining brought the Buccaneers closer at 71-69.

A turnover by the Chanticleers on the other end gave the ball back to Charleston Southern with 32 seconds left to play. Martin missed a jumper on the following Buccaneer possession, but an offensive rebound by Chris Grier kept the play alive. Grier's putback was swatted away by Sam McLaurin, but Warren secured the rebound and tied the game with a driving layup.

Coastal Carolina shot exactly 46.2 percent from both the field and from three-point range and have shot at least 41.0 percent from the field in all nine game this season. Gray finished 8-for-11 from the field and is shooting 56.8 percent from the field this season.

Coastal Carolina returns to action Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. (EST) when the Chanticleers travel to Baton Rouge, La., to take on LSU from the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
