Buies Creek, N.C.- No. 69 Coastal Carolina University women's tennis team edged Campbell, 4-3 on Tuesday, March 23 at Nisbet Tennis Center. The Chanticleers improved to 12-3 on the season, while the Camels fell to the 10-5 mark.
The Chants took two out of the three matches in doubles, taking an early 1-0 lead. The No. 1 pair of Lexy Bolesky and Miki Bunea defeated Crisina Garcia and Ana Surviladze, while No. 3 doubles of Kim Webb and Maria Camberos overcame Anais Gomar and Blanca Saenz, in a 9-8 tiebreaker.
The Chanticleers and Camels split the six matches, taking three points each. In No. 2 singles, Bunea topped Garcia 7-6, 6-3, while No. 5 singles of Mary Hill fell in the first set, but battled back to beat Gomar, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1. Camberos was triumphant over Nikoletta Kaposzta 6-2, 6-2 in No. 6 singles.
The Chanticleers will return to Big South play as they travel to Charleston Southern on Wednesday, March 31 at 2:30 p.m.
