GREENSBORO, GA. -- Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot its best round of the tournament but finished 13th at the 2010 Linger Longer Invitational, March 26-28. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was played at Reynolds Plantation (Par 72 - 7,005 yards) in Greensboro, Ga.
Coastal posted its best 18-hole score of the tournament with a 299 on the final day, but finished 13th at 50-over 914. Oklahoma State led wire-to-wire and took home the team title with a 1-over 865, two shots better than runner-up Alabama at 867. Texas A&M was third at 874, with Georgia and Georgia Tech tying for fourth at 879.
The Chanticleers were led by redshirt-sophomore Drew Ernst, who tied for 30th at 9-over 225, with senior Dan Obremski next at 227, tying for 38th. Senior Sam Lyons shot a 15-over 231, tying for 54th, while freshman Sebastian Soderberg tied for 71st at 236. Redshirt-freshman Daily Young rounded out Coastal's team effort, tying for 81st at 241, including tying for the team-best final round with a 2-over 74. Freshman Anders Larson competed as an individual and finished 88th at 261. Bud Cauley of Alabama won medalist honors by six shots after posting a 12-under 204 for the tournament.
Coastal returns to the course quickly, heading to Augusta, Ga., for the 2010 Administaff Augusta State Invitational, Sat.-Sun., April 3-4. The tournament is being played at Forest Hills Golf Club, the home of Augusta State University's men's golf squad.
