2011-12 Coastal Carolina Men's Golf Stats/Results/Record Book

SKOKIE, Ill. - Coastal Carolina completed round two Monday morning, firing an eight-over 288, but struggled along with the rest of the 17-team field to finish 10th with a score of 872 (291-288-293) at the prestigious Windon Memorial, hosted by Northwestern Oct. 16-17 at the par 70 and 6,793-yard Evanston Golf Club.

Arkansas won the team title, despite shooting a 17-over par 297 in the final round and finished with a 54-hole score of 847 (274-276-297).

Coastal Carolina was led by Peter Valasek and Sebastian Soderberg, each tying for 12th with a three-round score of three-over par 213. Valasek, playing in his second career event, fired rounds of 73-67-73. His second-round featured 16 pars and three birdies for his three-under par 67. In the final round, the freshman had four bogies and a birdie for his three-over 73. Soderberg was consistent throughout to post his three-over 213. In round one, he off-set two bogeys with two birdies, but finished with a two-over 72 thanks to a double bogey on his 12th hole. In round two, the junior was also two-over par, carding five bogeys and three birdies. In his final round, Soderberg had birdies on two of his first four holes before dropping a shot on his ninth hole. He got back to two-under for the round with a birdie on his 15th hole before suffering a bogey on the final hole for a one-under 69 --his fourth career round in the 60's.

Charlie Winegardner tied for 48th, finishing with an 11-over par 221. The senior was four-over par in his first two rounds, while turning in a three-over 73 in the final round. Andrew Dorn started well, shooting a two-over 72 in round one to tie for the best on the team. In rounds two and three he slipped to a 77-778 finish and tied for 75th at 227. Ben Wheeler rounded out Coastal's contingent, shooting 229 (75-75-79) and tying for 79th.

Coastal Carolina will return to action Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at UCLA's Gifford Collegiate Golf Championship. The three-day event will be played in San Martin, Calif., at CordeValle Golf Club.
