Women's Cross Country Garners Academic Recognition

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's cross team was one of 192 teams to earn the United States Track &Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2010 academic year.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five athletes at their respective NCAA regional championship. The Chants claimed the award for the 13th consecutive year and was one of four Big South Conference members to earn the award this year.
Leading the charge for this year's nod was Big South All-Academic team selection Janel Reeves with her 3.76 GPA.
The Chanticleers finished as runners-up in the Big South Championship Meet as Emily Marchini, Jamie Brusa, and Christian Johnson earned All-Big South honors by placing in the top ten of the 76 runner field. At the NCAA Southeast Regional, Coastal turned in a 23rd place finish to conclude its season.
