Irish Creek Collegiate Live Scoring
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The 13-team field at the Irish Creek Invitational, including Coastal Carolina, played one and a half rounds before sever thunderstorms called a halt to action Saturday. Unofficially, the Chanticleers were in fourth after round one, but are being shown in a tie for fifth at today's stopping point.
Play will resume at 8:15 am Sunday, completing round two, and then the final round will be a shotgun start approximately 45 minutes after the completion of the second round.
There was one weather delay early in round two and then play was suspended again around 6 pm due to heavy thunderstorms.
Coastal Carolina posted a six-over par 290 on the par 71 Club at Irish Creek in round one and trailed Duke (276), Wake Forest (280) and Louisville (284). Unofficially, Coastal was at eight over par, getting in between 12 and 15 holes in round two and is shown in a tie with Kennesaw State at fifth.
Tripp McAllister, who had two birdies on the front nine and two bogeys on the back, and Sebastian Soderberg, who was one over par on the front and had one birdie and eight pars on the back, each carded rounds of even par 71 in round one, while Roberto Ballesteros, who recorded an eagle on the par 4 fifth, was one over (72). Drew Ernst carded a 76 with Steve Delmar posting 81 in round one. Playing as an individual, Charlie Winegardner shot an eight-over 79 in round one.
Unofficially, McAllister, Ballesteros and Delmar were even par through holes 12, 14 and 13, respectively, prior play being suspended. Ballesteros played 14 holes before play stopped, getting 11 straight pars before a birdie on his 12th hole and bogey on his 14th hole. Soderberg, who was even through 11 holes after a birdie on the par four 11th, stands at +2 through 12 holes as he had a double bogey on his last hole played.
