AWENDAW, S.C. — Coastal Carolina wrapped up play at the Hootie Intercollegiate on Tuesday with an eighth-place finish at Bulls Bay Golf Club, posting a three-round total of 855 (277-283-295), finishing at 9-under as a team.
The Chanticleers entered the final round in contention for a top-five finish but slipped two spots on the leaderboard after a 7-over 295 in Tuesday's closing round.
College of Charleston claimed the team title at 35-under, followed by South Carolina (-29) and Kansas (-19). Purdue and Clemson tied for fourth at 16-under.
Coastal Carolina was paced by
Drew Sykes, who turned in the Chants' top individual finish, placing sixth overall at 7-under for the tournament. Sykes carded rounds of 65-70-74 and remained inside the top 10 throughout the week despite a 2-over final round.
Jack Lee provided a steady performance, finishing at 2-under (71-69-72), while
Harrison James closed at 1-over (69-70-78),
Santiago Schele added a 3-over total (72-72-75), and
Max Bengtsson rounded out the lineup at 5-over (72-71-74).
Individually, South Carolina's Frankie Harris earned medalist honors at 12-under.
