Orton, La Stella and Meo Named Clemson Regional All-Tournament

CLEMSON - Coastal Carolina's Hayes Orton, Tommy La Stella and Anthony Meo were named to the 11-man NCAA Clemson Regional All-Regional Team.
Orton, a senior left fielder, was one of four unanimous selections to the All-Tournament team, joining tourney MVP Greg Nappo (UConn), Will Lamb (Clemson) and Nick Ahmed (UConn). Orton batted .636 (7-for-11) for the tournament with four runs, a walk, a stolen base, a hit by pitch and sacrifice bunt. In game one, Coastal's win over UConn and first-round pick Matt Barnes, Orton went 5-for-5 with three RBI and tied a CCU record with three doubles in a game. Orton went 2-for-3 with a run scored versus Clemson and finished the tournament going 0-for-3 versus UConn with a run scored and hit by pitch.
La Stella batted .545 (6-for-11) with five runs scored, seven RBI, one double, three home runs, three walks and two sacrifice flies. In game one, La Stella was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBI and two home runs. He additionally gave Coastal an early 1-0 lead in the first with a sacrifice fly, setting the stage for the opening-round win. In game two, La Stella was 3-for-5 with three RBI and run scored, hitting a double and a home run. In the second game versus UConn, he was 0-for-2 with a run scored and sacrifice fly, while walking twice.
Meo lead the Chants to their only win in one of the top pitching match-up in the 2011 NCAA Regionals, going against UConn's Barnes. Meo pitched 6.1 innings, scattering nine hits and leaving the game with a 7-1 lead one-out into the seventh. He allowed one run and two walks while striking out seven. Meo's performance over the eventual Regional winner UConn became more evident as the Huskies scored 13, 12, 7 and 14 runs in their other four games.
