Pete Andrelczyk Among Former Chants Making Baseball News

Former Coastal Carolina pitcher Pete Andrelczyk was one of 23 players selected to play for Team USA at the upcoming 2011 World Cup in Panama, scheduled for Oct. 1-15.
Andrelczyk, a top prospect in the Florida Marlins organization, went 9-3 with a 2.26 ERA in 2011 playing in Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans this season. With New Orleans, he went 4-1 with two saves and a 1.49 ERA.
Andrelczyk was fifth-round selection by the Marlins in the 2008 MLB Draft.
Group play begins Oct. 1. Group One: United States, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Panama and Greece. Group Two: Australia, Cuba, South Korea, Venezuela, Italy, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Germany. For more information, click on USA Baseball's official website.
Andrelczyk's strong 2011 was an extension of a successful 2010 appearance in the prestigious Arizona Fall League. Two Chants hoping to do the same this year, playing in the Arizona Fall League, are Tyler Bortnick and Austin Fleet.
Bortnick, a second baseball in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, batted .306 for Single-A Charlotte, second-best on the squad, and was listed in Baseball America's Class A "Best Tools" as being the "Best Baserunner" in the Florida State League in 2011.
Fleet, a relief pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization, made three stops in 2011, starting in Rookie League and ending the year in Double-A Richmond. For the year, he was 9-5 with two saves, posting a 3.87 ERA.
