CONWAY - Coastal Carolina women's tennis player Katie Fosnacht has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week for matches played Jan. 23-29, announced by the league office today.

Fosnacht won her first collegiate match at the No. 4 singles position to help Coastal Carolina win its first match of the year against Georgia Southern. She defeated Natalie Maffett in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 as Coastal won 4-3 on Sunday in Conway.

"What a great way for Katie to jump-start her college career," said head women's tennis coach Catherine Hewitt. "This girl is a work-horse and will do anything you ask of her."

The women's tennis team returns to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they host USC Upstate at 10:30 a.m.
