Women's Tennis Tops Liberty 6-1

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team defeated Liberty 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
Coastal improved to 4-0 on the year while Liberty dropped to 1-5 on the year in the conference opener for the two teams.
"I am very proud of our girls," said head coach Catherine Hewitt. "Our efforts in practice this past week paid dividends for us today. We came out confident and ready to play and got a solid win against a hard fighting Liberty team."
The Chants won the opening point by sweeping the doubles matches.
Coastal followed by winning in the third slot with Mikaela Kristofersson defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-3. Diana Mortlock won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to put Coastal up 3-0. The Chants clinched the match when Katie Fosnacht won 6-3, 6-0.
In other singles matches Kourtney Kowal won 6-3, 6-4 and Miki Bunea won 7-5, 6-2. Maria Hesketh dropped her match 6-4, 3-6, 7-10.
The women's tennis team hosts Wofford College on Sunday, Feb. 26 at noon.
