Final Stats
CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team lost its last home match of the year, 4-3, against UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
Coastal was swept in the doubles portion of the match which proved to be the difference as both teams won three singles matches.
Trailing 2-0, Coastal knotted the match at 2-2 after Garik Yedigarian defeated Ryan Matthews 7-5, 6-2 and Yusuke Kusuda knocked off Jona Brobeck 6-4, 6-2. The two teams would split the next two matches with Matt Waissen closing out the match from the No. 2 flight for the Bulldogs (13-9, 5-2).
"This was a great college tennis match," said head tennis coach Chris Powers. "Both teams fought very hard and it went down to the last match. Hopefully, the next match like this we will come out on the winning side."
Coastal (12-5, 4-2) concludes the regular season tomorrow (Sunday) when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to face Gardner-Webb at 2:30 p.m.
