ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team dropped its first conference match of the year to Winthrop 6-1 on Friday afternoon at Memorial Courts.
Coastal opened the match taking the doubles point but lost all six singles matches slipping to 13-4 on the year and 5-1 in the Big South.
"I was very pleased with the way we played and performed in doubles," said head women's coach Catherine Hewitt. "Winthrop was a great test for us in singles, they exposed some of our weaknesses and we hope to get another shot at them in the conference tournament as we will be ready and bring a second gear for singles. They are a very solid team."
Winthrop improved to 11-10 while remaining unbeaten in the Big South with a 7-0 record.
Coastal returns to the courts on Tuesday, April 10 when they host Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 p.m.
