Women's Tennis Finishes First Day of Charlotte Invitational

Charlotte, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team performed well on the first day of the Charlotte Invitational, squaring off against South Carolina Upstate and Davidson in doubles, and SC Upstate in singles.
The Chanticleers won five of their six singles matches against the Spartans of Upstate in a convincing fashion. Libby Scott, Kourtney Kowal, Honami Yazawa, Marie Babayan and Amanda Malatek all downed their respective opponents in two sets.
The Chants then went on to split their doubles matches against the Spartans, with the CCU duo of Dominique De Wit and Kowal defeating Upstate's pair of Bunger and Rojas 8-3. The third doubles match in Coastal vs. Upstate flight was a scrimmage between the CCU pairs of Babayan/Delay and Majtan/Malatek, with the former coming out on top 8-0.
Coastal won two its three doubles matches against Davidson, with wins coming from Scott/Yazawa and Babayan/Delay.
Play at the Charlotte Invitational will continue on Saturday when the Chanticleers face Charlotte in singles and doubles matches.
