Day 1 Results

CLEMSON, S.C. - Senior Erica Peake set a school-record in the 60-meter dash and the Chanticleers recorded three other personal bests during the first day of the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson on Friday.

Peake clocked a mark of 7.39 in the preliminary heat of the 60-meter invitational, besting Chasity Johnson's record of 7.45, set I n 2007.

Peake's preliminary had to be run twice due to a clock malfunction. As a result, she did not compete in the 60-meter invitational final later in the day since she was also running in the 200-meter dash invitational.

The senior standout notched a runner-up finish in that 200 event with a time of 23.97 (23.61 with flat-track conversion). The 23.97 was just .01 seconds off Peake's own school-record that she established last month at the Virginia Tech Invitational.

Christina Davis set new personal-bests twice in the 60-meter hurdles invitational. The junior ran the preliminary in 8.66, then bettered that to a mark of 8.59 in the final to place third overall. Coastal qualified all four of its entrants for the final, with Ashley Davis taking fifth (8.70), Jessica Gelibert placing sixth (8.71) and Camille Hurleyfinished eighth with personal-best 8.75.

Freshman Teka Simpson tied for second place in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters. Raven Hamiltontied for seventh, clearing 1.60 meters.

Senior Mary Lawrencetied for third in the pole vault, clearing 3.48 meters.

Jessica Dennison placed sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:49.84. Kelila Naules placed eighth in the long jump (5.35 meters), while Anjulia Nicholsonfinished ninth in the weight throw (16.78 meters).

Reggie Nelsonhad the top performance on the day for the Coastal men's team, tying for second place in the high jump by clearing 2.05 meters (6-8.75).
