Raleigh Relays Day One Results 
RALEIGH, N.C. - Eleven student-athletes from the Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field teams were in action Friday evening at the Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State. The group managed a pair of top-five finishes and bested the teams season-best time in all but one event they competed in.
CCU was led by sophomore Joseph Keitt who finished first in his section of the 3000 meter steeplechase. His time of 9:18.93 shaved nearly seven seconds off the team's season best in the event which he achieved at the Shamrock Invitational. Junior Spencer Lange also competed in the steeplechase finishing ninth in his section with a time of 10:05.91 which ranks as the fourth fastest time this season for the Chants.
Junior Shelby Nicosia led the women with a fifth-place finish in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 11:11.32 was 48 seconds faster than the previous season-best by a Chanticleer. Senior Jessica Dennison also competed in the event and finished 10th with a time of 11:21.68 which also beat the previous season-low she set last weekend at the HPU VertKlasse Meeting.
Junior Emily Marchini finished sixth in her section of the 1500 meters with a season-best time of 4:37.91. She knocked off nearly four seconds from the season-best time she set last weekend at the HPU meet. Sophomore Letitia Saayman became the first Chanticleer to run the 10,000 meters this season and finished 12th overall with a time of 35:23.37.
Sophomore Tyler Cummings finished 21st in the 1500 meters and ran a season-best time of 4:05.34 in the event. Junior Ryan Beckley finished 24th in the same event and also bested the previous season-low with a time of 4:05.70.
The Chants return to action Saturday, March 30 as they continue to compete at the Raleigh Relays. The sprinters will be in action as well as they travel to the University of North Florida Invitational.
