MYRTLE BEACH - Connor Owings drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on Will Remillard's sacrifice fly to give Coastal Carolina a 3-2 win in 11 innings over UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The Chanticleers (31-18, 15-5 Big South) and Bulldogs (15-33, 3-16) will conclude their three-game series Sunday at 10 am.

Owings started the bottom of the 11th walking on four pitches. Chris Suseck laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Owings to second. Ted Blackman singled to right field to put runners on the corners. The Bulldogs elected to intentionally walk Jacob May to load the bases, setting up Remillard's game-winning RBI and his team-leading sixth sac fly.

The Bulldogs hit three doubles to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Ian Graham started the game with a leadoff double and scored on Robert McIntosh's double. Todd Joyner followed with an RBI double.

Coastal answered with a run in the home half of the first. Blackman drew a leadoff walk - marking his fifth straight walk in the series after getting five free passes in game one of the series to set a CCU single-game record. Blackman moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.

The Chants tied the game in the second. Colin Hering reached on an error and eventually scored on Chris Suseck's RBI single.

Both teams loaded the bases in the sixth, but Ryan Connolly (5-3) came out of CCU's bullpen to record two strikeouts to end the threat. In the home half after loading the bases with one out, UNCA starter Dean Roland answered with a strikeout and ground out to keep the score knotted at 2-2.

Coastal also put a runner on third with one out in the 10th thanks to a leadoff double by Remillard, but UNCA relief pitcher Billy Creighton got a pop out and a strikeout to force an 11th inning.

Seth Lamando started for Coastal. The freshman pitched 5.1 innings and scattered seven hits, allowing two runs and one hit with five strikeouts. Connolly earned the win. He pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, allowed three hits and no walks while tying his career high with seven strikeouts.

Roland pitched nine innings, allowed three hits and two unearned runs with three walks and nine strikeouts. Creighton (2-4) suffered the loss. He pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two hits and one run with three walks and a strikeout.

Prior to today's game Coastal Carolina recognized its six seniors, Ted Blackman, Alex Buccilli, Aaron Burke, Ryan Connolly, Justin Creel and Josh Powell.
