SPARTANBURG - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team scored a pair of first-half goals and notched its first victory of the season with a 2-0 shutout of Wofford Friday night.
Junior Rylie Johnson and freshman Brianna Panico netted the goals 12 minutes apart in the opening half, helping the Chanticleers even their record at 1-1-1. Wofford fell to 0-2-1 with the loss.
Sophomores Camille Christie and Darbie Kelley assisted on the scores for Coastal, which came on its first two shots in the contest. Senior goalkeeper Megan Spencer recorded three saves for her second consecutive clean sheet.
Johnson got the Chants on the board just over 15 minutes into the game, coming up from her defensive position to head in a corner kick by Christie for her fourth career goal.

CCU finished the half strong, outshooting Wofford 5-1 over the final 13 minutes. The Chants' defense then limited the Terriers to just three shots in the second half.
