Kacey Kelley tallied the goal for Coastal in the first half. It was her ninth of the season, tying a career high that she established as a sophomore in 2012, and the 25th of her career.
Winthrop senior forward Krystyna Freda, who recently became the Big South's all-time leading points scorer, evened the game in the 71st minute for the Eagles (5-6-1, 1-3-1).
Kelley found the net in 15th minute as her cross from the right side of the box went over the head of Winthrop keeper Amelia Henderson and into the top of the goal.

The Chants began the second half on the attack offensively, recording four shots in the first 13 minutes, but Henderson came up with three saves during that span. Freda then countered for the Eagles, recording a pair of shots before getting the equalizer from point-blank range off of a cross from the wing for her 13th goal of the season.
Freda put another shot on goal in the 80th minute, but Chanticleers keeper Faith Farley made the save. Less than a minute later, Kelley recorded the final shot of regulation, which went wide.
Henderson saved a shot by Kelley in the third minute of the first overtime, and Farley countered with a stop of a Winthrop shot with under two minutes left.
Brianna Panico, Rylie Johnson and Amber Adams then each got off shots in the first two and a half minutes of the second OT period, but they all went wide. The final attempt by either team came in the 106th minute off the foot of Freda and also was wide.
