Tsangarides and Pereira play their third-round matches on Friday, and have the opportunity to become the first Chants to reach the round of 16 at the ITA Carolina Regional.
Tsangarides won his first match on Thursday 6-4, 7-6(4) against Winthrop's Peter Nagovnak. He then bested Presbyterian's Alexander Lykou 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the third round, where he will face South Carolina's Kyle Koch.

"This is another great opportunity for the program," said Chanticleer head coach Chris Powers. "Going up against N.C. State and South Carolina today is going to be a challenge, but both of these guys have demonstrated that they can play with the top players in college tennis."
Rick Timmerman and Vuk Velickovic also won first-round matches on Thursday, but each fell in the second.
