Chants Win 10 at Weather-Shortened Charlotte Invitational

Charlotte, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team posted a 10-6 combined record in singles and doubles as the Chanticleers completed the first day of competition at the Charlotte Invitational. All of Saturday's matches have been canceled in anticipation of inclement weather.
Coastal competed in eight singles matches against UNC Greensboro, winning all but two.
Honami Yazawa defeated Stephanie Falcon 7-6(4), 6-3, while Libby Scott downed Corinne Blythe 6-2, 6-0. Sara Bondar bested Amy Ellis 6-2, 6-3, and Marie Babayan topped Blaine Boaz 6-3, 6-4. The final two wins came from Mila Majtan, who picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Alisha Burton, and Natalie Wall, who cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Briana Bodner.
Play then turned to doubles, where Coastal faced host Charlotte and Davidson.
The Chants picked up three doubles wins against Davidson as Babayan/Bondar recorded an 8-3 victory, and the CCU pairs of Delay/Wall and Berry/Majtan blanked their respective opponents 8-0.
Coastal won one of four doubles matches against Charlotte as Berry/Majtan took an 8-4 victory over Bodner/Perez.
The conclusion of the Charlotte Invitational marks the end of the fall season for the women's tennis team. The Chanticleers open the 2015 spring season at home on January 23, against Charlotte.
