Chants Produce Three Flight Finalists at UNCW Invitational

Yazawa will compete in Sunday's final of the A1 Singles flight against Lyn Yee Choo of East Tennessee State. The sophomore won Friday's first-round match against Campbell's Tamara Stanic, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4, before defeating Alyssa Ritchie of UNCW 6-3, 6-4 in Saturday's semifinal. Her last time out, Yazawa won the A1 Singles flight at the College of Charleston Invitational.
Bondar will also be competing in her second consecutive flight championship. The freshman from Hungary won by retirement in the first round of the B1 Singles flight, then bested UNCW's Hamilton Lovett 7-5, 6-0 in the semifinals. Bondar will square off against Anna Gerbasi of ETSU in Sunday's flight final.
Delay is making her first appearance in a flight final this fall. The sophomore advanced to the semifinals of the A2 Singles flight with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over NCCU's Ekaterina Nekrasova. Delay then defeated UNCW's Alix Theodossiou 6-2, 7-5 to earn a berth in the flight final where she'll face ETSU's Ioanna Markensini.
The Chants' top doubles pair of Yazawa and Libby Scott reached the final of the A Doubles flight, but was defeated in a tight 8-6 match by UNCW's duo of Sillanpaa/Kharkevitch on Saturday.
Play at the UNCW Fall Invitational will conclude on Sunday.
