Kacey Kelley Takes Big South Attacking Honors

Kelley helped lead the way to a pair of victories last week, enabling the Chanticleers to remain perfect in Big South play at 3-0-0 for the first time in six seasons.
The senior forward from Ashburn, Va., scored two of Coastal's first three goals - both on helpers from sister Darbie Kelley - in a 4-1 road win at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday and then assisted on the game-winning double-overtime tally by Brenna Leftwich in the 1-0 decision on Saturday. Kelley set up the goal with a perfect cross in the air that Leftwich deflected in from point-blank range for the team's third overtime victory of the season.
Kelley narrowly missed finding the net herself in the High Point game, hitting both posts with separate shots in the first half, but totaled 12 attempts in the two games. She continues to lead the conference in shots, now with 59. She is tied for the league-lead with eight goals - one off of her career high - and is second in points with 17.
With 55 career points, Kelley is now just one behind Kristina Fisher for fourth place on Coastal's all-time list. She moved into fourth in program history in goals earlier this season and upped her total to 24 last week. The weekly honor is the third of her career, with one each during the last three seasons.
The Chanticleers (6-5-1 overall) stand in second place in the Big South with nine points. Liberty and Radford are tied for first with 10 points after playing four conference games. The Chants are back at home on Wednesday to face Presbyterian College, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
