2013-14 NSCAA Academic Team Award Winners
CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 academic year, extending the program's streak of earning the honor to 14 consecutive years.
The award requires teams to have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher for the calendar year. A total of 582 women's teams were honored for 2013-14, but Coastal was again one of just six from the Big South Conference. CCU's combined GPA of 3.26 was third-best in the league.
As a team, the Chanticleers had 18 players record a GPA of 3.00 or higher for the year, including 12 with at least 3.40. Junior Faith Farley led the way with a 4.0, followed closely by sophomore Becca Austin, junior Darbie Kelley, senior Maddie Phillips and sophomore Brittany Temple each with 3.90 and junior Camille Christie with a 3.88.
The Coastal Carolina men's team also earned NSCAA All-Academic recognition, making CCU one of only 188 schools across all divisions to have both its men's and women's programs recognized.
