Two Wins For Chants on 2nd Day of Shamrock

MYRTLE BEACH - The Coastal Carolina women's 4x800 relay team and pole vaulter Brianna Cristiano notched first-place finishes during the second day of competition at the CCU/Shamrock Invitational on Friday at Doug Shaw Stadium.

The 4x800 relay team of Jessica Gelibert, Imani Boatwright, LaChelsie Thomas and Emily Marchini crossed the finish line first in a time of 9:08.55, ahead of teams from South Carolina and Army.

Cristiano, a sophomore, picked up her first career victory by winning in the pole vault "B" flight with a clearance of 3.20 meters (10-6.0).

Senior Anna Carnegie turned in a runner-up finish in the heptathlon with a total of 4,353 points. Carnegie placed third in the long jump competition (5.23 meters), fourth in the 800-meter run (2:32.53) and fifth in the javelin (32.99) meters.

In the men's decathlon, Nick Seabright broke a meet record in finishing second in the javelin with a throw of 50.01. He finished second only to unattached Brady Wert, who also set a meet record with a distance of 51.90 meters. Seabright placed sixth overall in the decathlon competition.

Senior Naomi Atkins finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.05 meters, Teka Simpson tied for sixth in the high jump (1.60 meters) and Emma Kroger was eighth in the pole vault "A" flight. Also, Raven Hamilton was fourth in the high jump "B" flight (1.50 meters) and Regina Peattie placed sixth in the 800-meter run "B" flight (2:27.51).

The women's 4x200 relay team of Christal Green, Simpson, Leah Fair and Symphony Thompson placed third with a time of 1:37.95.

In the men's relays, both the 4x800 and 4x200 teams took fifth place. The 4x800 team was comprised of Stevie Brunson, Ryan Beckley, Cameron Wells and Joseph Keitt and turned in a time of 7:53.97. The 4x200 relay team of Alexander Haas, DeAndra Lipscomb, DeAndre Pressley and Ronnie Jackson clocked 1:25.84.

In preliminary competition, four CCU athletes moved on to Saturday's finals. In the 100-meter hurdles, Camille Hurley qualified sixth in 14.77, just ahead of teammate Ashley Davis, who was seventh in in 14.92. In the women's 100 meters, Kelila Naules qualified seventh with a time of 12.24, while Kevondre Hunt also was seventh in the men's 110-meter hurdles prelims in a time of 15.03.

The meet concludes on Saturday with field events beginning at 9 a.m. and track events getting underway at 10 a.m.
