San Jose del Cabo, Mexico - The Coastal Carolina men's golf team finished 13th with a 54-hole total of 926 at the SMU Querencia Cabo Collegiate, played at the par 71, 6,919-yard Los Cabos Querencia.
The Chanticleers will return home to host the annual General Hackler Championship at TPC Myrtle Beach March 10-11. The event is scheduled to have 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday. The 2014 field includes Duke, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Iowa State, Kent State, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois, North Carolina and UNC Wilmington. The SMU Querencia Cabo Collegiate featured eight of the nation's top 32 programs. Houston, ranked 11th, won the three-day event with a score of 863, edging top-ranked Alabama by one stroke.
Junior Andrew Dorn paced the Chanticleers with a 54-hole total of 10-over par 223 (77-71-75) to tie for 29th. Thanks to his even-par round of 71 on Monday, Dorn has posted nine rounds of par or better in 21 chances this season, tying Ben Wheeler for the team lead in the category.
Wheeler finished tied for 55th after carding a three-day total of 231 (75-75-81). Freshman Olle Widegren placed 63rd with a score of 234 (75-77-82) and Roberto Ballesteros, a native of Mexico, finished 67th with a total off 240 (76-83-81). Freshman Christopher Williams placed 76th shooting a 259 (90-81-83) for 54 holes.
