WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's women's 4x400 relay team was victorious Saturday at the JDL Hilton Garden Invitational while posting the second-fastest time in program history.

The quartet of Christal Green, Jessica Gelibert, Teka Simpson and Camille Hurley clocked 3:44.68 to win the race by more than two and half seconds over the G.W. Express/Nike club team. North Carolina was third, more than seven seconds behind. The time is second only to the school-record mark of 3:42.44 set last year, with Green, Gelibert and Hurley as members of that squad as well.

The Chanticleers also had an impressive showing in the mile run, placing three among the top seven finishers, led by Aynslee van Graan's runner-up performance. The school record-holder in the event took second in a time of 4:56.08, finishing just .23 seconds behind Elon's Kimberly Johansen while recording her fourth top-five finish of the season. Sister Kyla van Graan followed closely in fourth with a time of 5:01.55 in the first indoor mile of her career, while Letitia Saayman set a new personal-best of 5:05.86 in the event to place seventh.

Also Saturday, Jalacy Green notched her third straight top-five in the shot put, placing fourth this time with a throw of 13.65 meters (44-9.5). Simpson finished seventh in the 60-meter dash competition with a time of 7.83 in the finals. Earlier, she had equaled her preliminary time of 7.72 to take second in her semifinal heat and advance. Hurley led the four Chants who qualified for the 60-meter hurdles semifinals, just missing out on advancing to the final, but setting a personal-best time of 8.58 to place ninth.

The Coastal men were led Alexander Hass, who finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best time of 6.86 in the final. He clocked 6.90 in the semifinals to advance. Ryan Minor posted a personal-best of 15.57 meters (51-1) in the shot put to place sixth. Raheen Frederick took seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 13.76 meters (45-1.75) and Therius Styles was ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.78.

The Chanticleers return to action on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Samford Invitational.
