Lunackova Named Big South Freshman Golfer of the Week

Coastal Carolina women's Golf Season Stats/Record Book Update
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's Marie Lunackova was named The Crons Brand Women's Golf Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.
Lunackova tied for 20th in the 96-competitor The Johnie Imes Invitational field, marking the first top-20 finish of her collegiate career. She shot rounds of 74-71-72 for a 1-over 217. Her second round 71 and 1-over 217 scores both marked collegiate bests. Lunackova made four straight birdies on holes 8-11 during round two and another four straight on holes 9-12 during round three. She ranked fourth in the field in par-5 scoring, playing the holes a combined 5-under, while her 12 birdies tied for the 12th-most in the field.
A native of the Czech Republic, Lunackova holds a 74.83 scoring average through six rounds of play this season.
Coastal's next tournament is the Charleston Southern-hosted Wendy's Invitational at Rivertowne Country Club in Ponte Mount Pleasant, S.C. The 54-hole tournament opens with 36 holes of play of Mon., Oct. 5 and concludes with a final 18 holes on Tues., Oct. 6.
