CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team struck five times in tonight's matchup versus the Winthrop Eagles making its way to a 5-1 victory Friday night at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

Prior to the game, the senior members Darbie Kelley, Miki Antzoulatos, Mikayla Williams and Camille Christie of the women's soccer team were honored for the time spent as a Chanticleer.

The Chants move to a 4-0-1 record in league play remaining unbeaten, while Winthrop drops to 1-3-1 in league play.

Five different Chanticleers found the back of the net tonight, with Amber Adams and Darbie Kelley each recording a goal and an assist. Miki Antzoulatos, Daniella Famili and Kayla Christian also netted one for the Chants.

"It was a great win considering the weather conditions this past week, and traveling on the road to High Point then having a short days rest," said head coach Paul Hogan. "Coming back to beat Winthrop, which we haven't done in a while was good. The seniors had a great performance tonight and an all-around good team effort."

Christian got the fireworks going for the Chants in the 15th minute of the first half off an assist by Kelley. Christian fired one towards the upper-90 and gives CCU their first of the night. This was Christians sixth goal of the season.

Just minutes later, Kelley was taken down in the box and a penalty kick was awarded. It was an easy placement from Kelley as she converted for goal number two, her second of the season.

The Chants continued to pressure the Eagle defense looking for more, and struck again in the 27th minute. After an initial shot from the Chanticleer offense, the keeper punched the ball out landing at Famili. Off one bounce, Famili volleyed it on frame to secure the goal. This was Famili's sixth of the season.

Going into the second half, the Eagles weren't giving up yet as they netted one in the first two minutes of the game off a corner kick making it 3-1.

Although the Eagles picked up the pace in the second half, the Chants answered their goal with two more goals. Adams scored in the 72nd minute off a bouncing ball making it 4-1 and just one minute later Antzoulatos closed out the scoring for the Chants with goal number five. Antzoulatos goal was her first of the season and Adams second.

Coastal finished the night with a 20-7 edge on the Eagles in shots, while Becca Austin only having to record three saves.

The Chanticleers return to action next Wednesday Oct. 14th as the travel to Campbell. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
