CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team makes its 2015-16 season debut on Friday as the Chanticleers host Mid-Atlantic Christian for a 7 p.m. game at The HTC Center.

Chants vs. Mid-Atlantic Christian
Friday's game marks the first-ever meeting between Coastal and Mid-Atlantic Christian, and is the first of three non-Division I opponents that the Chants will face this season. Coastal also hosts Allen (Nov. 22) and Warren Wilson (Dec. 9) at The HTC Center. Historically, Coastal is 149-116 all-time versus non-Division I opponents.
Coastal Carolina in Season Openers
The Chants are 23-18 all-time in season opening games. Coastal has played seven of its last eight season opening games at home, the exception being a game at College of Charleston to start the 2012-13 season. The Chants are 7-1 during that stretch, with the only loss coming at CofC.
Coastal Carolina in Home Openers
Coastal is unbeaten (3-0) at The HTC Center in home openers. Last season the Chants finished with a 10-8 record at home, and are 30-20 all-time since beginning play in the arena in 2012-13.
Coastal's Returners
The Chants return eight student-athletes from the 2014-15 season, including starters Ced Gibson, Alexis Robinson and Stephanie Isaacs, as well as Big South All-Freshman selection Jas Adams. Gibson led the pack in scoring last season averaging 10.7 points per game, followed by the 8.5 ppg of Adams. Robinson was the Chants' top rebounder, hauling in 8.1 boards per game as a sophomore.
Other returners include Olivia Carlton, Dionne Parker, Josie Utley and redshirt senior Nicole Isaacs, who was forced to sit last season due to NCAA Division I transfer policies.
Fresh Faces
The 2015-16 roster features nine new names as well as Tanisha Walker, who came to Coastal from Wales towards the end of last season but did not compete. The newcomers include one graduate student in Rachael Gregory (University at Buffalo), two junior transfers in Yasmin Miller (Northeast CC) and Derriel Banyard (State Fair CC) and seven freshmen.
A Look Ahead
Coastal travels to in-state rival Clemson on Sunday to take on the Tigers for a 2 p.m. game at Jervey Gym. It will be just the third all-time meeting between the sides. Clemson holds a 2-0 record in the series, with wins coming in 1994-95 and 2003-04.
