CONWAY - Coastal Carolina head men's tennis coach Chris Powers announced the addition of Luiz Faria, who will be joining the team as a freshman for the 2016 spring season.

"Luiz will bring some youth to this veteran team, but we feel like he can help the program right away," said Powers. "He is a very solid singles player and we can certainly use his skills on the doubles court as well. We also feel like he will fit in well with a team that really defined itself this fall as hardworking and dedicated."

Faria comes to Coastal Carolina from Brazil where he excelled at the junior level, while also earning impressive results on the futures circuit as well. According to ITFTennis.com, Faria amassed a 25-24 career singles record and 25-23 career doubles record in juniors.

Faria has been ranked as high as #327 as an ITF junior.

Coastal opens the 2016 campaign on Jan. 30 at Richmond, followed by a Jan. 31 match at William & Mary. The Chanticleers make their home debut on Feb. 3 against Francis Marion at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex. Coastal hosts a total of 14 home matches during the 2016 season.
