Women's Tennis Falls at East Carolina

Greenville, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team dropped its third straight match on Saturday, falling 4-1 to East Carolina the Pirate's Next Level Training Center.
"Today just wasn't our day," said head coach Catherine Hewitt. "ECU has a well put together team that came out firing in doubles to set the tone. They kept the pressure on and we were playing catch-up for the duration of the match."
East Carolina won the doubles point after sweeping all three courts.
The Pirates' pair of Dana Gray and Katie Hoch blanked Sara Bondar and Romane Delay at No. 3, while Maria Gomez and Neena Wanko topped Marie Babayan and Natalie Wall 6-3.
The match on the first doubles court went unfinished with the Chanticleer duo of Libby Scott and Honami Yazawa leading 5-3 against Michelle Castro and Nicole LaDuca.
Coastal then managed just one point as played turned to singles. Yazawa provided that point with a three-set, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, win over LaDuca on the first court.
Castro, Gomez and Hoch each won their respective singles matches to lead the Pirates to the 4-1 victory. The singles matches on courts four and six went unfinished.
Coastal returns from its three-game road trip on Monday to host Charlotte for a 12:30 p.m. match at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
