CONWAY - The seedings and pairings for next week's 2015 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championships, hosted at The HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University, have been determined following the conclusion of the conference's regular-season schedule Saturday evening. The Coastal Carolina men secured the No. 3 seed, while the Chanticleer women will play from the ninth seed.

The Chanticleer men, who finished the season with a 21-9 overall record and 12-6 league mark, will play the winner of UNC Asheville-Liberty on Friday, March 6 at 8 p.m.

Coastal holds a 17-23 all-time record in the Big South Tournament dating back to the 1985-86 season. The Chanticleers have won the tournament three times, including last season. Coastal also won the tournament in `90 and `91. Last year the Chants played from the No. 2 overall seed en route to the tournament title.

The men's championship will begin Wednesday, March 4 with four first round games. No. 8 seed Presbyterian will play No. 9 seed Longwood at 12:00pm, while No. 7 seed Gardner-Webb meets No. 10 seed Campbell at 2:00pm. In the evening session, No. 6 seed UNC Asheville will play No. 11 seed Liberty. Wednesday's winners will advance to Friday's quarterfinal round.

Charleston Southern is the No. 1 seed after winning the tiebreaker over High Point after both finished as co-regular season champions with 13-5 league records. The Buccaneers will open against the winner of Presbyterian-Longwood on Friday, March 6 at Noon.

Radford earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will faced No. 5-seed Winthrop at 2 p.m. on Friday. No. 2-seeded High Point begins its postseason against the winner of Gardner-Webb-Campbell Friday at 6:00pm. Followed by the Chanticleer taking on the UNC Asheville-Liberty winner at 8 p.m.

The women's team closed the regular season with a 12-17 overall record and went 6-14 in conference play to earn the ninth seed. The Chants take on eighth-seeded UNC Asheville at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. The winner advances to play top-seeded Liberty at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5.

Coastal was swept in the regular season series against the Bulldogs, falling 68-61 at Asheville on Jan. 24 before suffering an 87-53 loss at The HTC Center in the regular season finale. The third meeting against the Bulldogs on Tuesday marks just the second time in Coastal history that the Chants will face the same team in the first round that they closed the regular season with. The previous occasion saw the Chants top Charleston Southern in both in games in the 2002-03 season.

Overall it will be the 63rd meeting between the teams, with Coastal holding a 32-30 advantage. The Chants and Bulldogs have met four times in the Big South tournament, with each side winning a pair of games. The last meeting saw UNC Asheville win 65-51 in the first round of the 2006-07 tournament.

Liberty (23-6, 19-1) won the outright regular-season title and is the No. 1 seed in the championship. A tiebreaker was needed to award the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. Radford and High Point each finished the season with a 14-6 record in conference play and they split the season series. The Highlanders earned the No. 2 seed as a result of their records against the top teams in the league. A tiebreaker was also needed to award the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds. Winthrop and Campbell each finished the regular season with a 13-7 mark in conference and split the season series, so the tiebreaking procedure moved to records against the highest-seeded teams. The Lady Eagles handed No. 1 seed Liberty its only loss of the season, and therefore garnered the No. 4 seed. Sixth-seeded Presbyterian finished 10-10 in the Big South in 2014-15, just ahead of No. 7 seed Gardner-Webb, who was 9-11 in the league. Longwood was 4-16 and is the tenth seed, while Charleston Southern is the No. 11 seed after a 1-19 record in conference play.
