
Chanticleers Roll at UNC Asheville

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team held its opponent without a point for the second straight contest as the Chanticleers (10-4, 4-0) extended their winning streak to nine matches with a 7-0 victory at UNC Asheville on Saturday.
Coastal was led in doubles by the pairs of Honami Yazawa/Sara Bondar and Libby Scott/Marie Babayan, who won their matches on courts two and three, respectively, to give the Chants a 1-0 lead after surrendering the No. 1 doubles match.
Cari Berry kicked off singles play with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 result over Caroline Sherrer at No. 6 to advance the Chants' lead to 2-0. Romane Delay followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3, and Yazawa clinched at the match on the second court with a straight sets win over Erika Rivero.
Bondar and Babayan took similar 6-1, 6-2 victories on courts four and five, and Scott topped Emily McNall 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1.
"The girls had great focus and execution today," said Chanticleer head coach Catherine Hewitt. "I was very proud of the way we played."
Coastal's match on Sunday has been postponed. The Chants are back in action on March 28 at Liberty.
