Scott Named Big South Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Libby Scott of the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 23-29, the league announced today.
The Player of the Week nod is the second for Scott this season, who first earned the award after the opening week of Coastal's season on Jan. 29. It is also the fourth weekly honor for a Chanticleer student-athlete this season after Sara Bondar was named Freshman of the Week each of the past two weeks.
Scott led the red-hot Chants with a 4-0 record last week as Coastal extended its win streak to 11 matches and remained unbeaten in conference play with road wins at Liberty and Radford.
Paired with Marie Babayan, Scott delivered 8-6 victories on the third doubles court against both the Flames and Highlanders. Against Liberty on Saturday, Scott recorded a No. 1 singles win over Belen Rivera that evened the match at 3-3 after the Flames had jumped out to a two-point advantage. The junior then picked up a No. 2 singles victory the next day as the Chants downed Radford 6-1.
Overall, Scott is 10-5 in singles this season, including a perfect 6-0 record against Big South opponents. She has performed similarly well in doubles, leading the team with a 12-3 overall record and winning all but one of her six doubles matches against conference teams.
With just three regular season matches remaining, Scott and the Chants will look to keep their streak going as they host fourth place Winthrop (9-10, 5-1) for a 10 p.m. match on Saturday, April 4 at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
