CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's and women's tennis teams hosted Gardner-Webb for a pair of matches on Saturday at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex, and each came away with a 6-1 victory over their respective side.

The Chanticleer women move above .500 with the win, improving their overall record to 5-4. The men, meanwhile, have won six of their nine matches played this season.

The women's team swept the Runnin' Bulldogs on the doubles courts to take a 1-0 match lead. The Coastal pairs of Wall/Delay and Scott/Babayan each nabbed 8-3 victories on the first and third courts, respectively, while Bondar/Yazawa claimed the 8-5 victory at No. 2.

The Chants then took five of the six remaining points on the singles courts. Scott, Yazwa, Delay, Bondar and Berry all won their respective singles matches in straight sets.

Catherine White recorded the lone point for GWU, edging Wall in three sets at No. 5.

The Chanticleer men won in a very similar fashion, sweeping the doubles point before claiming five of the six singles points.

Tsangarides/Pereira and Samed/Yedigarian claimed 8-5 victories on courts one and two, and Velickovic/Timmerman bested their opposing duo 8-6 on the third court.

Tsangarides, Pereira, Yedigarian and Al-Mutawa each won in straight sets in singles, while Velickovic came back from a first set loss to defeat Ates at No. 4.

Brendan Dempsey was the Bulldogs' lone point-getter, defeating Leme on court five.

The Chanticleer women have a day off before heading to Western Carolina on Monday to play their match against the Catamounts that had been postponed earlier this season.

The Chanticleer men have a quicker turnaround as they head to #34 South Carolina on Sunday for their fifth match of the season against a nationally ranked opponent.
