Coastal Falls at #40 South Carolina

Columbia, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team suffered a shutout at the hands of #40 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon as the Chanticleers (6-4, 1-0) fell 4-0 to the host Gamecocks.
It was the Chants' fourth loss in five matches against nationally ranked opponents this season, with each loss coming to top-50 teams.
The Gamecocks opened the match with a sweep in doubles, winning on courts one and two to take the first point. Kaue Pereira and Philippe Tsangardies fell 6-3 to Kyle Koch and Thiago Pinherio at No. 1, while Renan Samed and Garik Yedigarian fell by the same margin to #44 Thomas Mayronne and Harrison O'Keefe at No. 2.
Koch opened singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Yedigarian at No. 2, and Sam Swank extended the Gamecocks' lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Samed on the sixth court.
Andrew Adams closed the match on the first court besting Tsangarides 6-2, 6-4.
Coastal's next two matches make up the last of the Chants' non-conference schedule. James Madison comes to the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex for a 10:30 a.m. match on March 14 before the Chants travel to South Carolina State for a 1 p.m. match on March 15.
