MYRTLE BEACH - After posting an even par score of 288 first round in the morning session, North Carolina State shot a second-round 5-under par 283 to overtake #25 North Florida and stand in first place after 36 holes of the Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday General Hackler Championship, played at the 7,233-yard, par 72 The Dunes Club. Host Coastal Carolina is in 10th place in the 15-team field, shooting a two-round score of 595 Monday.

The Championship will conclude with 18 final holes on Tuesday. Fans are welcome and admission is free.

In addition to the team lead, the Wolfpack holds the top spot on the individual leaderboard through two rounds. Jacob McBride carded a 2-under par 70 in the opening round before posting a 4-under 68 in the afternoon for a 36-hole score of 6-under par 138. He owns a two-stroke lead over five others that shot a 4-under 140. The group tied for second include Zach Seabolt (Winthrop), Scott Fernandez (Iowa State), Nick Voke (Iowa State), Josh Whalen (Kent State) and Carter Page (North Carolina State).

The Chants were in 11th place after the opening round, shooting a 298, and moved up one spot to 10th after a second-round 297. Coastal's 36-hole score of 595 is just behind Cincinnati's 594 and #42 East Tennessee State's 593.

Coastal was led one day one by Alfredo Ruiz, who is tied for 19th with a 36-hole score of 2-over par 146. The sophomore was tied for first at 3-under par through the first 10 holes. However, he finished the round with an even par round of 72 and was tied for 19th place thanks to a bogey on the par 5 13th hole and double bogey on the 14th hole. Ruiz carded a second round 74 and remained tied for 19th.

Andre Dorn is tied for 30th after shooting 76-72=148 and Ben Wheeler is tied for 47th with scores of 72-79=151. Ryan Carpenter and Peter Valasek, each playing as individuals, are among the top 50. Carpenter shot an opening-round 77 but rallied with a 73 for a 36-hole score of 150 to stand in a tie for 40th. Valasek is tied for 47th with Wheeler after shooting 74-77=151.
